Social Bookmarking - I can definately say I need it. Until now I really haven't saved bookmarks on my individual machine but rather used the bookmark feature on Myinternet. I have found this quite useful. However Delicious offers the benefit of sharing with others. (The only problem with the networking feature, is knowing who to share with and what their username is.) It would great to be able to get the children into the habit of using this feature - but would that mean that I would need to install the tool bar on all of the school computers?

It was quite interesting that when I was doing the recommended reading for this module, I became impatient with the amount of text to read. I have seen myself as a learner change while working through this online course. I have become someone who wants the information "now" and my change in learning style has helped me relate to my students who also seem to want instant information.
Hi Deanne,
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog. I have come to it many times before now and was happy to see one of the activities was to view another journal.
As you can tell from the many texts I sent you this morning, I found 'delicious' a tad difficult to navigate and was unable to work out your username in order to view your bookmarks. I also don't know why I would need to view certain people's bookmarks. To me, you would need a school account and a home one because if you were to view my bookmarks, you would find alot of Year 5 programming sites that would be no use to you at all! I think the same thing would happen to me with your Year 2 pages. Perhaps if we were in a bigger school and programming in stages, we would readily access eachother's bookmarks?
I agree with you about the reading. How good are the short videos in each module that break down the subject?? Maybe that is where we are heading - teachers will become obsolete as the subject can be taught via video online?! I know my brother who is studying at Uni is able to sign into his class online, lay in bed and watch his lectures on his laptop...or does he? I know you would probably multi-task and ride your exercise bike in front of the screen!!!
Thanks for helping me with my learning x
