Web 2 Leaning Model

We began our staff fortnightly Web 2 workshops with Marist Pagewood today. It was great to have two floating staff members working with the groups to assist where needed. We are all at different stages in our learning journey. A big thank you to Greg for hosting the session.

It would be beneficial for course participants to view the online videos and do the related reading prior to the session, so that the focus of the workshops would be the hands on working with the technology. Don't expect that you will complete a whole module in the one session. You need time to digest what you have done. Next time we'll take along our headphones!

Finding other Bloggers.

This photo is of two of my collegues as they are working through Web 2. I love their hand and facial expressions as they are setting up their own blogs for the first time. Well done girls!!!

Finding it a bit difficult to find my friends and collegues blogs on blogger without having the actual url address. Would be interested to know if there is an easy way of doing it. I'm wanting to support my work mates as they go on their web 2 journey.

Changes To Google.ig

Since I started creating my i-google home page, there seems to have been a few changes. I was initially able to create my own gadgets using a do it yourself gadget. I was able to create direct links to all my favourite sites. Until recently I was even able to edit them. I have searched and searched for for this DIY gadget but can't find it. I thought that I could then go back an edit one of my own gadgets , share it and then be able to re-use it. Well that didn't work- I can no longer edit my own gadget. It now seems that to create a gadget, you need to be able to use computer language which is beyond me. I'm so disappointed. I would love to find out if there is an easier way.

The Web 2 Journey Continues

It's been a while ...but I'm back. However this time, it's with a different spin. I'm going on the web 2 journey again but I'm hoping to be a support person to the wonderful staff I work with. Last year Jo (our Kindy teacher ) and I completed the course and supported each other as we worked our way through the modules. This year, the entire staff has decided to complete the course together. What dedication!!!

We have decided to use a learning model where by we complete about one hour together at school and then spend the rest of the time at home to complete the modules.

We have also decided to work collaboratively with the staff of Marist College Pagewood - ( the secondary school next door) meeting once a fortnight to work on our journey together.

The staff this week completed all their pre-reading, watched the early videos regarding the ile@rn model, and explored the concepts of leaving digital footprints. We are all signed up to our gmail accounts and those not registered with scootle yet, have been invited to sign up.

Some staff have decided to make a start on module 1 so by the end of week 1, we are already working at different paces. To me this highlights the need for people to be able to work at their own pace and that the school meeting time should be dedicated to a sharing of skills as well.

From my experience of doing this course last year, I would suggest that people take it easy as you work through each module. Reflect on how what you have learnt could impact on the classroom. Give it a try in the classroom and then move on. The fog will clear as you see it become a reality in the classroom.
